PNM's Sky Blue Proposal Gets New Review
By KRWG News
New Mexico – SANTA FE, N.M. (KRWG) The New Mexico Public Regulation Commission wants a hearing examiner to reconsider Public Service Company of New Mexico's proposal for a new Sky Blue program.
The proposal gives customers the option to pay extra for wind and solar-generated electricity. The current Sky Blue program involves only energy generated at the New Mexico Wind Center.
The Albuquerque Journal reports that the commission sent the proposal back for reconsideration after the hearing examiner in May recommended rejecting the plan because of legal issues.
PNM had proposed to use solar plants already intended to meet the state's renewable energy requirements as the supply for the voluntary program. The examiner had said that PNM's wind-only program should continue.
Commissioner Jason Marks says he thinks the case is amenable to a compromise.
