Missouri Couple Sentenced For NM Shootout

Gallup, New Mexico – GALLUP, N.M. (KRWG) A Missouri couple dubbed Bonnie and Clyde after a shootout with New Mexico state police officers have been sentenced to prison.

State police said Tuesday that Mark Cochran was sentenced to 22 years in prison and Elizabeth Denman was sentenced to 11 and a half years for the shootout that shut 1-40 in McKinley County on Sunday, July 11, 2010.

At the time, Cochran and Denman were wanted in Missouri for kidnapping Denman's young son. The couple was eventually stopped by the New Mexico State Police in McKinley County, where they led officers on a high speed chase. After they chase they fled on foot and police recovered the boy. Cochran and Denman were later captured in Phoenix, Arizona by the FBI.
