Las Cruces – Las Cruces Police have arrested the suspect involved in a Wednesday evening altercation that led to a 17-year-old boy with a cut to the back of his head.

Humberto Banda, 18, was arrested Wednesday, Aug. 18, and is charged with one count of aggravated battery that may cause great bodily harm. Banda was transported to the Dona Ana County Detention Center with bond set at $10,000.

The 17-year-old victim was transported by private vehicle to Memorial Medical Center in Las Cruces with non-life-threatening injuries. He has since been treated and released.

Shortly after 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Las Cruces Police were called to the 2300 block of south Valley Drive where the physical altercation reportedly occurred. At around the same time, additional officers were dispatched to Memorial Medical Center where the victim was receiving treatment for what appeared to be a stab, or slicing, wound.
