As of July 15th, open hours for the Catwalk National Recreation Trail are from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. daily. At this time, this includes only the Whitewater Picnic Area and ¼ mile of the primitive Catwalk trail. The Glenwood Ranger District is working to open additional areas in the future.
If heavy rains are forecast in the high country above the Catwalk, and flash floods or flood potential exists, the Catwalk may be closed in the mornings for public safety. When it is safe, the Catwalk will be re-opened.
It is important for visitors to contact the Glenwood Ranger District at 575.539.2481; the Supervisor’s Office in Silver City, 575.388.8201, or the Public Affairs office, 575.388.8211 (office) or 575.574.2590 (after weekday hours or on weekends) for updated information.
