El Paso – A high school dance teacher is accused of videotaping himself having sex with as many as 70 children in El Paso.
Marco Alferez remained jailed without bond Thursday, a day after federal agents testified they found more than 200 videos of the 34-year-old having sex with children. Some were elementary school age.
Alferez is charged with sexual exploitation of minors and possessing child pornography. His attorney could not immediately be reached Thursday.
Maria Teresa Garcia, Alferez's aunt, told El Paso television station KFOX that her nephew wasn't a "menace to the community" and described him as an inspiration.
Alferez has taught at El Paso's Irvin High School since 2008. He has been placed on paid administrative leave.
