Daytime Burglar Caught In the Act In Las Cruces

Las Cruces – Dona Ana County Sheriff's Investigators arrested and charged JEREMIAH LYNN COCHRAN, age 39, of the 9600 block of Longhorn, Las Cruces, with one count of Non-Residential Burglary, a fourth degree felony.

According to Sheriff's Investigators, the owner of a building located at 1705 A Mountain Road at approximately 2:45 p.m. arrived at the building; when his wife noticed what she believed to be the light of a flashlight coming from inside the dark building, hearing what she described as a "rummaging" noise.

The owners wife immediately called 911, while the owner of the building stood by outside, armed with a handgun, awaiting the arrival of Sheriff's Deputies.
A patrol Lieutenant and Sergeant entered the building and found COCHRAN inside the building with items on his person; items that he had allegedly taken from inside the building.

COCHRAN had just recently been released from the Dona Ana County Detention Center on August 26, 2010, after posting bond for Probation Violation, Concealing Identity, Shoplifting and Failure to Appear and was awaiting trial.
Magistrate Judge Olivia Garcia set bond for COCHRAN at $25,000.00 Cash.
