Anthony Man Gets 19.5 Years In Drive-By Shooting

By KRWG News

Las Cruces – JESUS "CHUY" CASTILLO, age 23, who is currently being detained at the Dona Ana County Detention Center, was tried and found guilty of four felony counts by a District Court Jury and immediately sentenced to 19.5 years in prison yesterday for a retaliatory gang related drive-by shooting in Anthony, New Mexico on February 11, 2010.

On February 11, 2010, rival gang members committed a drive-by shooting at the residence of CASTILLO'S parents located in the 900 block of Grant Street, Anthony.

In retaliation, CASTILLO, along with his co-defendants, PEDRO OROZCO, who was tried and found guilty and sentenced on April 30, relating to the same incident and is now serving 24 years in prison, went to the area of Marquez Street with retaliation in mind.

CASTILLO, in the company of his co-defendants fired rounds at a residence on Marquez Street and assaulted an innocent by-stander, pulling him from his vehicle, pistol whipping him and taking his vehicle.

The vehicle was later found abandoned and "torched" in a ditch in the Vado area.

Five arrests were made relating to this incident.

JAVIER OROZCO, a juvenile, a co-defendant, has since pled "no contest' relating to the same incident and is currently facing murder charges relating to the Adam Espinoza murder earlier this year at the Interstate 10 Rest Stop near Anthony.

LORENZO CASTILLO, age 21, is yet to be tried for charges relating to this same incident.

A drive-by shooting that precipitated the retaliatory drive-by shooting on Marquez Street resulted in the arrest of JORGE MURILLO, age 19, a co-defendant in the Adam Espinoza murder incident.

Five arrests were made in that dive-by shooting.

PEDRO OROZCO'S girlfriend, YOLANDA CASTILLO, age 25, was arrested by ICE agents on May 12, after a warrant was issued for her arrest charging her with one count of Retaliation against a Witness, during PERDO OROZCO'S trial.
