Las Cruces – The Dona Ana County Sheriffs Department is investigating an alleged sexual assault at the county detention center.
On Saturday, June 5, Sheriff's Deputies were dispatched to the Dona Ana County Detention Center, after an inmate reported to authorities that he had been sexually assaulted while being detained in one of the "Holding" cells at the Detention Center, which he shared with nine other inmates.
The Victim, age 19, requested and submitted to a Sexual Assault Nurses Examination administered by a Nurse from La Pinon Sexual Assault Recovery Services.
The investigation is ongoing and being conducted by Sheriff's investigators.
