Joint Doctoral Program Planned for NMSU

Las Cruces – New Mexico State University is working with a school south of the border to create a new joint-doctoral program.

NMSU's College of Engineering and the University of
Chihuahua have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to create a
joint-doctoral program in civil engineering.

The University approached NMSU this year seeking a means to bring advanced civil engineering programs into their curriculum.

Water Resources Conference

Las Cruces – New Mexico State University is looking beyond the border to find
answers to one of the scarcest resources of the arid Southwest - water.

In January .experts from around the United States, Mexico and Israel will discuss similarities and problems of the Rio Grande and Jordan River basins.

The Rio Grande provides water for Colorado, New Mexico, Texas and Mexico.

The Jordan River supplies water in Israel, Palestine, Lebanon, Jordan and Syria.

Spaceport America Granted FAA Launch License

Las Cruces, NM – Monday the Federal Aviation Administration granted the New Mexico Spaceport Authority their launch license for Spaceport America. As KRWG's Evan Woodward reports, the FAA granted the license after issuing their final decision on the environmental impact statement for the project.

Designing Better Physical Education Programs

Las Cruces – Some work at New Mexico State University is helping design more effective physical education programs across the globe.

Kimberly Oliver is an associate professor in NMSU's College of Education .
Oliver studied the barriers keeping girls in Las Cruces elementary schools from participating in physical activity .and worked with them to help OVERCOME those obstacles.

But the impact of Oliver's work has gone far beyond New Mexico .in fact, it's travelled across the Atlantic.
