She has been making drums since 1987 and made her first recording in 1992. Carlsbad native, Martinez received her first NAMMY, The Grammy for The Native American Music Industry, in 2005 as Best Female Artist. Her music consists of drumming and chanting, contemporary Native American, country, Latin and folk recordings.

January 10, 2013 – Las Cruces, NM - On this edition of PUENTES, Emily Guerra bridges the community with local professional artists, Carolyn Bunch and her son, Tony Pennock. They both recall painting murals as children, and have made it their life’s work.

Bunch moved to New Mexico in the 1950’s, and has been involved in the arts as a public school teacher, an artist and gallery owner of Adobe Patio Gallery. She is currently one of fifteen artists featured at an exhibition at the Adobe Patio Gallery in Mesilla.

What is Multiple Sclerosis?

He will talk to us about a global chronic disease of the central nervous system, Multiple Sclerosis (MS).

Youth increase their creative learning process, their academic performance, problem solving and group interaction skills in order to internalize responsible decision making and gain a sense of community by incorporating the creative learning process in all aspects of their lives.

Interview: Co-Author of "El Sicario: The Autobiography Of A Mexican Assasin" Molly Molloy

NMSU librarian and Professor Molloy Molloy has made it her mission to gather and file information and numbers from local newspaper reports on the daily count of murders in Juarez. She has created what is called the Frontera List- a detailed record of the victims including their name, age, gender and where they were killed. She is also the co-editor of the book “El Sicario, The Autobiography of a Mexican Assassin,” which is being reviewed next week by the Branigan Library and the Fountain theater is showing a movie based on the book as well.

Interview: Patricia Hernandez, Centro De Proteccion De Mujer a Mujer

Mujer a Mujer is a domestic violence shelter in Ciudad Juarez that aims to protect and educate women on their human and legal rights in Mexico. An upcoming fundraiser in Las Cruces will help fund the shelter which has been struggling due to the violence in Juarez. Fundraider coordinator Patricia Hernandez joins us  in the studio.
