Voters will decide in the November general election whether to approve $167 million for capital improvements at New Mexico's college, universities, tribal schools, senior citizen centers and libraries.
Gov. Susana Martinez on Tuesday signed legislation to authorize the projects but voters must approve the financing from bonds backed by property taxes.
Nearly $140 million is for projects at schools of higher education, tribal colleges and the New Mexico Military Institute.
Among the proposed funding is about $19 million for renovations of New Mexico State University's Jett Hall, Jett Annex, Rentfrow Hall and utility upgrades. There's $20.5 million for renovating the University of New Mexico's Farris Engineering Center.
