Jury selection is to begin Friday for the trial of a man accused of participating in the March 2010 killing of a U.S. consulate employee.
Prosecutors say Arturo Gallegos Castrellon is a member of a border gang affiliated with a drug cartel. He's accused in a multi-count indictment of drug trafficking, money laundering and participation in the shootings that killed Leslie Ann Enriquez Catton, a U.S. consulate worker in the Mexican border city of Ciudad Juarez. Also killed was husband Arthur Redfels and Alberto Salcido Ceniceros, husband of another consulate employee.
Castrellon was extradited from Mexico in 2012.
The indictment names 35 defendants, 33 of whom are in custody with six awaiting extradition from Mexico. Twenty-five have pleaded guilty, while one committed suicide in jail.
