UNM Begins Budget Review To Deal With $28 Million In Recurring Cuts

By KRWG News

Albuquerque – The University of New Mexico has convened a cost-containment task force to help the school craft a budget for next year and help formulate a three-year strategic financial plan.

UNM regents are to consider the budget plan next March.

UNM's acting president, Paul Roth, says the recession is continuing and state revenues are down.

He says that because of state cuts in the past two years, university officials expect future cuts.

Roth also says that despite measures taken to manage the cuts, UNM still must absorb $28 million in recurring reductions.

The school, in a news release on its website, says the task force includes representatives of faculty, staff, students and administration.
