Two Men Charged In Las Cruces Burglaries

By KRWG News

Las Cruces – Two men have been arrested and charged for a pair of home burglaries that were committed on Monday.

William "Billy" Joe Estrada, 29, of Brazito, N.M., and Albert Lee Wall, 28, of Sunland Park, N.M., are charged with one count each of residential burglary, receiving stolen property, possession of burglary tools and conspiracy.

Las Cruces Police arrested Estrada on Monday and Wall on Wednesday morning. Both are being held at the Dona Ana County Detention Center with bonds set at $30,000 cash.

Shortly before 1 a.m. on Monday, May 24, a homeowner on Longbow Loop called 911 to report that someone had just kicked in his front door. Police learned that someone, later identified as Wall, knocked on the home's front door and then kicked it open.

Wall then ran when he saw the homeowner and realized the residence was occupied. Estrada and Wall also are believed to have burglarized a home on Habanero Drive earlier Monday.

Since April the Las Cruces Police Department has taken more than 50 reports of home burglaries where a perpetrator kicked-in the front door to gain access to the residence. Nearly all of the burglaries have been committed during daytime hours and at homes that were unoccupied at the time.

Detectives are continuing their investigations and additional charges are possible.
