Tuition Up About 6% At WNMU
By KRWG News
Silver City – Western New Mexico University is raising tuition and fees by about 6 percent.
The increases go into effect with the summer semester.
Regents for the Silver City university approved the increases Wednesday.
Resident, undergraduate, full-time student costs will increase from $1,905 per semester to $2,020 per semester.
Western President John Counts says financial constraints over the last three years have caused the university's budget to decrease about 20 percent.
He says enrollment increased about 25 percent this year.
He also says Western New Mexico University has had the second-lowest tuition and fees among the 79 four-year colleges in the Southwest region.
