Traffic Stop Nets $40,000 And Two Handguns

Las Cruces – On September 23, at approximately 8:30 p.m. Agent Luis Rios of the Las Cruces/Dona Ana Metro Narcotics Agency and Deputy Jacob Ballard of the Dona Ana County Sheriff's Department, conducted a traffic stop on a 1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse, occupied by four Hispanic male individuals.

The traffic stop yielded in the seizure of approximately $40,000.00 in U.S. currency and two handguns.

The investigation is ongoing into a local drug trafficking organization that operates in southern Dona Ana County.

The operation was part of an interdiction operation that was initiated and conducted by members of the Metro Narcotics Agency, Dona Ana County Sheriff's Department and the Las Cruces Police Department.

To date, the operation has resulted in the Seizure of over $400,000.00 in U.S. currency.
