Thousands Mourn Family As Son Stands Accused In Murders

Nehemiah Griego on MeetOne (social network)

An estimated 2,000 people turned out Wednesday night for a prayer vigil for a New Mexico family found slain over the weekend.  The vigil was held at the Calvary Albuquerque church where victim Greg Griego was a pastor. A security official says 15-year-old Nehemiah Griego spent much of the day Saturday at the church before sheriff's officials say he confessed to the killings.

Before the start of the vigil, members of the crowd shared hugs and handshakes.

Pastor Skip Heitzig shared stories about Greg Griego and his family, saying Greg was always ready to "get his hands dirty" and was dedicated to helping others find God. He also urged the crowd to remember that forgiveness and restoration — two tenets dear to Greg Griego — will be important as the community moves forward.
