Ten Minute Plays Feature Las Cruces Area Students

Las Cruces – Six original productions highlight the 2018 Annual 10 Minute Play Festival at Doña Ana Community College (DACC). Here is a statement from DACC:

   The plays have been chosen, rehearsals are in full swing and the shows are written by, directed by and will be performed by DACC Theatre Arts Club members. The plays represent a wide variety of styles and represent the diverse communities of Southern New Mexico and DACC.

Ten minute plays continue to gain in popularity. According to Theatre Database, “10 minute plays are a legitimate form of theatre that has proven highly popular with audiences around the world.”  In this genre, writers have to keep the action moving and with multiple plays, the audience is treated to a variety of works.

   The 2018 DACC plays include:

  • Road Trip written by Keyara Lujan and directed by Heather Evans.
  • The Man Show written by Eric Olivas, based on a concept by Eric Olivas, Maria Amezecu and Will Barela and directed by Heather Evans.
  • Death Pepper Salsa written by Jamie Sackett and directed by Camille Gallus. 
  • I think I married a Serial Killer written by Clarissa Verdugo and guest directed by Neal Adelman.
  • Hacked Play written by Natalia Ceniceros and directed by Rebecca Paige George.
  • Super Karina written by Alejandra Alaniz and directed by Rebecca Paige George.

The Cast and Crew: include: Brianna Arvizu, Wendy Garcia, Xannah Fish, Brittany Gonzales, Enrique Jaramillo, Kevin Loya, Derek MacDonald,  Tai Mata, Nathaniel Magaña, Lorena Marin, Sofia Mediola, Heather Mitchell, Nancy Molina, Vincent Montoya, Tara Mostafazade, Orlando Meraz, Natasha Nuñez, Ciara Paschen, Jeremias Ramirez, Leo Ramos, Sam Ramos, Selina Sayre, Vivian Soto-Ramos, Ethan Trujillo, Antoinette Villalpando, Cindy Villegas, and Allee Warner.
All six plays will be performed on Wednesday, November 28th, Thursday, November 29th, and Friday November 30th in the East Mesa Campus Auditorium, 2800 Sonoma Ranch Blvd. After each show dinner will be provided by the DACC Student Government Association.
