Shot Fired during Armed Robbery at Comfort Inn In Las Cruces

Las Cruces Crime Stoppers is offering a $1,000 reward for information that helps identify two men who committed an armed robbery Thursday morning and discharged a gun during the incident.

Las Cruces police learned that at about 5 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 4, two masked men entered the Comfort Inn and Suites at 1300 Avenida de Mesilla. One of the men was armed with a handgun and used it to threaten the hotel clerk and demand money from the register.

The hotel clerk, a woman, complied with the demands and then tried to distance herself from the suspects. The armed suspect fired one round toward the woman as she ran away.

The woman was not struck and was not physically injured during the incident.

The two men fled the hotel in an unknown direction.

The armed suspect was described as white and about 5-feet-6-inches tall. The second suspect was described as Hispanic and about 5-feet-3-inches tall. Both men were wearing ski masks and gloves, and both were said to be thin. The two men were described as young, possibly in their late teens or early 20s.

Anyone with information that can help identify the two suspects is asked to call Las Cruces Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477. Those who provide tips through Crime Stoppers do not have to provide their own name and can remain completely anonymous.

The Crime Stoppers number is operational 24 hours a day.
