Sheriff's Commission Seeks Volunteers

The Doña Ana County Special Deputy Sheriff Commission is looking for qualified candidates to fill volunteer positions.

The Commission regularly assists the Doña Ana County Sheriff’s Office in various community outreach projects, like Neighborhood Watch and the Ident-a-Child program.

To be considered for membership, each applicant must be 21 years of age or older and a U.S. citizen. Each qualified applicant must also pass a background check. Previous law enforcement experience is not required.

The mission of the Special Deputy Sheriff Commission is to serve as a liaison between the Doña Ana County Sheriff’s Office and the public in order to improve communication and facilitate interaction between the community and the sheriff’s personnel.

In addition to Neighborhood Watch and Ident-a-Child, the commission supports and participates in programs including drug-awareness education, Doña Ana County’s Historical Museum of Lawmen, or any other matter deemed useful and necessary by the sheriff.

Anyone interested in serving on the Special Deputy Sheriff Commission is encouraged to call Marilyn Simione at (575) 649-5306 for more information.
