Second Suspect Arrested, Suspected Of Molesting Boy

A second man suspected of sexually assaulting a young Las Cruces boy was arrested Thursday on a warrant in Carlsbad, N.M.

Juan Antonio Serrano-Jusino, 34, was arrested shortly before noon by officers with the Carlsbad Police Department. Serrano-Jusino is charged with one count each of criminal sexual penetration of a child, criminal sexual contact of a child, criminal solicitation and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Serrano-Jusino was booked under a $100,000 cash-only bond and is expected to be transferred from Carlsbad to the Dona Ana County Detention Center.

Earlier this month, Las Cruces Police investigators learned from a tip that someone using a cell phone application was engaging in sexually explicit communications and articulated to others that he was engaging in sex acts with a teenage boy. Investigators learned that the cell phone attributed to the application belonged to Jason Reyes, 33, of Las Cruces.

On Friday, March 14, investigators interviewed three children who know Reyes and learned that Reyes had been engaging in sexual activities with a young boy, now a teenager, since November 2009. Investigators also learned that, on more than one occasion, Serrano-Jusino accompanied Reyes in the alleged misconduct.

Reyes was arrested March 14 and charged with one first-degree felony count of criminal sexual penetration of a child under 13 years old; two second-degree felony counts of criminal sexual penetration of a child under 16 year of age; two counts of criminal sexual contact of a minor; and one count each criminal solicitation, incest, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and sexual contact of a minor.

Reyes remains incarcerated at the Dona Ana County Detention Center with a cash-only bond set at $100,000.
