Las Cruces – Las Cruces Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of $2,000 for information that helps police solve the mysterious 1991 disappearance of a woman and her 11-year-old son.
On Feb. 23, 1991, Edyth Ann Dewees Warner, 35, and her son, Nicholas Smith, disappeared from their home at New Mexico State University's student housing, at 714 Standley Dr. on campus. The woman's husband did not report the two as missing for approximately a week and, when he did, told NMSU police that the two left their student apartment on foot.
Warner and Smith have not been seen or heard from in 20 years.
Warner is described as a white woman with brown hair and blue eyes. In 1991 she was 5-feet tall and weighed approximately 145 pounds. Smith is white with brown hair and hazel eyes. At the time of the disappearance he was 5-feet-1-inches tall and weighed 115 pounds.
