Las Cruces, NM – The Bataan Memorial Death March is a challenging march through the high desert terrain of White Sands Missile Range. It is conducted in honor of the heroic service members who defeated the Philippine Islands during World War II.
Participants can choose between two different routes, one being twenty-six point two miles and the other fifteen point two miles.
The event is open to military and civilian teams and individuals. There are also heavy and light divisions. In the heavy category marchers must carry a thirty-five pound rucksack. Awards will be presented to the top two finishers in each age division and category.
Teams must consist of five people who must cross the finish line together. The cost to register a team is two hundred and seventy-five dollars. Individual registration cost is sixty-five dollars.
The deadline for online registration is March 20th. Mail-in registration forms must be postmarked no later than March 12th and can be downloaded from the website at bataanmarch.com
