Polish Men Accused Of NM License Fraud

Three illegal immigrants from Poland are facing felony charges for allegedly trying to fraudulently obtain driver's licenses in New Mexico.

Authorities say Piotr Pietrusiak, Kamil Cieszynski, and Lukasz Tutak came to New Mexico from Illinois to try to obtain a driver's license after hearing that it was easy.

Investigators say the three men admit to renting an apartment, opening a bank account and receiving a tax identification number from the Internal Revenue Service in an attempt to prove residency even though they had no plans of staying in New Mexico.

KRQE-TV (http://bit.ly/10pWz4W) says state Motor Vehicle Department employees were tipped off when they noticed the men's information was identical.

The three men are being held in the Bernalillo County Metropolitan Detention Center. It was unclear Tuesday whether they had lawyers.
