Perry Says Gay Marriage Is A State Issue; Will Announce Presidential Plans In The Next Month

By KRWG News

Texas – Texas governor and potential Republican presidential candidate Rick Perry says he supports state rights so much that he's fine with New York allowing gay marriage.

Perry told several hundred potential GOP donors in Aspen, Colo., on Friday that he's an "unapologetic fiscal conservative" and opposes gay marriage but that he's also a strong believer in the 10th Amendment.

He says New York's decision is "their business" and that's fine with him.

Perry also said he plans to announce in three to four weeks whether he'll run for president. He says he considers his job in Texas the best in the world but his wife has encouraged him to run.

Perry is in Aspen for the Republican Governors Association convention. His comments Friday came at a forum at the Aspen Institute.
