NMSU's American Indian Program Offers App For Community Outreach

The New Mexico State University American Indian Program has a released a new application to educate the public about American Indian Communities in New Mexico.

With just a swipe of a finger users can try to place correctly one of the 22 tribes, pueblos, and nations on a map of the State Of New Mexico.

“How Well Do You Know New Mexico” is the name of the app that NMSU's American Indian Program funded and launched with the assistance of The New Mexico State University Learning Games Lab.

The App Educates and puts information about the American Indian Program in many hands according to Michael Ray, Student Program Coordinator.

“A person can go ahead and download this application take it to wherever they need to take it, into their classroom, into their home, and into their home community,” says Ray.

The app provides opportunity for people across the globe to learn about American Indian Communities, according to Justin McHorse, Director of The American Indian Program at New Mexico State University.

“There are a lot of people throughout the world that are interested in Tribal communities. This is just another tool to help them understand where they may be located,” says McHorse.

"How Well Do You Know New Mexico" is available for iPad through Apple’s Application store.
