Tom Jenkins, professor of engineering technology at New Mexico State University, will talk about renewable energy systems, primarily wind and solar, and their applications for the citizens of New Mexico, at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, March 14. His talk will be held at Engineering for Southern New Mexicans at the Museum of Nature and Science, 411 N. Main St. The presentation is free and open to the public.
Jenkins serves as the coordinator of the renewable energy minor, the most popular minor in the Engineering Technology and Surveying Engineering Department. He is actively engaged in research and outreach projects related to renewable energy technology with funding from NASA through the New Mexico Space Grant Consortium and the Engineering New Mexico Resource Network. He has developed a series of videos and conducted workshops on the use of renewable energy technologies with the Cooperative Extension Service.
Jenkins' presentation is the first of two discussions to be presented by NMSU College of Engineering faculty at the Museum of Nature and Science; the next is to be presented in the fall. The discussions will feature current research from the college and how it enhances life in our community.
