N.M. Behavioral Health Firm Cutting Expenses

A New Mexico behavioral health company created last year when state officials replaced other providers is reducing staff pay and taking other steps to reduce expenses.

According to the Albuquerque Journal, Agave Health Inc. has told staff that it is operating at a loss and needs to change that.

The company said salaries will be reduced 5 percent and that merit increases for supervisors and managers will be frozen through this year.

Agave also says it is reducing its mileage reimbursement rate.

Phoenix-based Southwest Behavioral Services created Agave in 2013 amid the shakeup of New Mexico providers.
