New Mexico – New Mexico's jobless rate reached 8.5 percent in November, up from the 8.4 percent rate recorded in October and the 8.1 percent rate of November 2009. The Las Cruces jobless rate also rose .1 percent to 8.5 percent.
The national unemployment rate rose to 9.8 percent in November.
State labor officials say New Mexico lost 4,400 jobs between November 2009 and November 2010.
The New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions says five industries have added jobs, while eight lost jobs.
Among the sectors losing jobs were professional and business services, government, retail and wholesale trade, construction, transportation and utilities, financial activities and the information industry.
Jobs gains were reported by educational and health services, manufacturing, mining, leisure and hospitality and other services.
