New Mexico Department Of Health Hosts More Flu Shot Clinics In Las Cruces

The New Mexico Department of Health’s Dona Ana County Health Services Center will conduct two additional flu shot clinics in November at the St. Genevieve Catholic Church Parish Hall, 1025 E Las Cruces Ave. They are scheduled for November 1st and 15th from 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM. The immunization clinics are open to the public and free without charge.

A flu outreach clinic held at that same location October 18th drew a huge crowd, with 480 local residents receiving their flu immunizations.

Of the 480 people that received flu shots, 46 were children, 108 were seniors over 65 years of age, and 326 were adults 19-to-64 years of age.

“Demand for Department of Health flu shots appears to be higher this year since local hospitals are not conducting their own influenza immunization events,” said Southwest Region Public Health Director Ray Stewart. “The outreach clinic is scheduled to be at St. Genevieve’s on a regular basis as long as there is sufficient public demand for flu shots.”

Everyone six months of age and older should get a flu vaccine each flu season, especially people at high risk of having serious flu-related complications or because they live with or care for people at high risk for developing flu-related complications.

The New Mexico Department of Health offers vaccinations for people without insurance or who are otherwise not able to get immunized. Those with Medicaid or other health insurance should bring their insurance cards with them to the clinic.
