MMC may have new owner before 2004

Las Cruces, NM – The Dona Ana County Commission and Las Cruces City Council held a special joint session Thursday afternoon to provide the public with a timeline regarding the possible sale of Memorial Medical Center. The two governmental entities are essentially the landlord for the hospital. Investment banker, Joseph Lupica is working for the city and county to help settle the MMC fiscal crisis. He apprised the public and elected officials of an aggressive timeline to solicit and review bids from potential hospital buyers. Lupica thinks it is possible to find a buyer before the end of the year.
