New Mexico – Gov. Susana Martinez has appointed Alamogordo businessman Bill Burt to fill a Senate vacancy and Roswell pipeline inspector Bob Wooley to a vacant House seat.
Burt replaces Republican Dianna Duran of Tularosa, who was elected secretary of state.
Wooley fills a seat vacated by Keith Gardner, a Roswell Republican who became the governor's chief of staff.
Burt and Wooley are Republicans. Burt is owner of Burt Broadcasting.
Martinez announced her appointments on Friday. Candidates for the posts had been recommended by county commissions in the legislative districts.
