Deming – Deming police have filed charges against a man already in custody on several charges, including homicide.
Police say 20-year-old Austin Barshaw also faces charges of burglary, larceny and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
They say the latest charges relate to a Dec. 17 burglary in which a 42-inch television was taken. Police say Barshaw allegedly had a minor with him when he entered the home.
When the Luna County Sheriff's Office arrested Barshaw at his home on Dec. 21, deputies say they found a 42-inch TV with a serial number matching the number later supplied by the burglary victim.
The Deming Headlight says Barshaw was arrested on an open count of murder, tampering with evidence, bribing or intimidating a witness and larceny of a firearm in the Dec. 12 death of 53-year-old Timothy L. Bennish.
Barshaw is being held on $97,500 bail on the homicide and other charges.
