Loans, Grants Available In NM Fire-Damaged Areas

KRWG News –

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (krwg) Low- and moderate-income families affected by a recent wildfire in southwestern New Mexico could quality for financial help to refurbish, rebuild or buy a home.

Rural Development State Director Terry Brunner says he wants people affected by the fire to be aware of Rural Development programs.

The agency has a direct home loan program that helps low-income residents qualify for a loan.

It also administers the Guaranteed Rural Housing loan program to help moderate-income families buy a home.

Brunner says both programs can provide financial help to rebuild or buy a new home.

Rural Development also has the 504 home loan and grant program, which is available to very low-income rural residents who own and live in a house that needs repairs.

The Silver City-area blaze burned 13 houses.
