Lease Set On Renewable Energy Hub

By KRWG News

New Mexico – State Public Lands Commissioner Patrick Lyons and Tres Amigas LLC plan to sign a lease Thursday that would help move renewable energy through numerous states, Canada and Mexico by 2014.

The lease signing is set for 9 a.m. Thursday at the Clovis Civic Center.

A short-term option in September gave Tres Amigas time to evaluate the suitability of about 14,000 acres of state trust lands northeast of Clovis to plan for power grid connections.

The proposed Tres Amigas SuperStation in Clovis would allow electricity to flow more freely across the nation's three massive power grids, breaking down barriers to ramping up alternative energy in the United States.

The project would help route energy from isolated wind and solar installations to urban centers.
