Las Cruces Officers Cleared

By KRWG News

Las Cruces – A New Mexico State Police investigation has cleared three Las Cruces Police Department officials of allegations they took bribes for arranging a firearms contract.

State police Lt. Roman Jimenez (hih-MEHN'-ehz) says no criminal activity was found.

He says everything was accounted for, and the southern New Mexico police department's records were well kept.

An anonymous tip alleged two firearms instructors and former interim Chief Pete Bradley each received a machine gun last year in exchange for arranging a contract with a company that supplies the department's SWAT team.

Bradley says he never had any doubt how the investigation would turn out.

State police officers interviewed Las Cruces officers and looked at invoices and other paperwork stretching back several years.
