Las Cruces is Getting Vet Museum

By Marco Grajeda

Las Cruces, NM – The City of Las Cruces will be home to the state veteran's museum, that word from the Governor's office.

In a press release, Governor Bill Richardson announced he will visit Las Cruces Friday to sign House Bill 59 calling for the creation of a Veterans Museum in the southern New Mexico city.

The measure cleared the senate over the weekend after being approved in the house with unanimous support. The bill was sponsored by Las Cruces state representative Jeff Steinborn.

Last year, the Veterans Museum act, sponsored by then Las Cruces Senator Leonard Lee Rawson, also cleared the state legislature but was vetoed by Richardson.

While in Las Cruces, Richardson will also meet with New Mexicans for two hours to talk about any bills approved during the 2009 legislative session.

Richardson will sign the Veterans Museum Act Friday morning at ten in the New Mexico Farm and Ranch Heritage Museum.
