Human Trafficking Hotline

By KRWG News

New Mexico – The FBI and other law enforcement agencies have set up a hotline for complaints about human trafficking in New Mexico.

The FBI calls human trafficking a form of modern-day slavery.

Immigrants, runaways and others are sometimes exploited by persons who trick, force or sell them into prostitution or unpaid physical labor.

In addition, a New Mexico Human Trafficking Working Group is looking for ways to share information and resources among law enforcement and community organizations.

The group is made up of federal, state and local law enforcement and government agencies along with community and social organizations.

Efforts to break up human trafficking focuses on fighting the exploitation of people who work in industries such as agriculture and domestic service or who are forced into prostitution.
