House OKs Bill To Pay For Special Session
By KRWG News
SANTA FE, N.M. – The House has unanimously approved a bill to pay for expenses of the Legislature's special session to deal with redistricting.
Lawmakers are allocating $1.2 million for up to a 21-day special session.
The bill cleared the House on Wednesday and the Senate Finance Committee also endorsed it. The full Senate is expected to consider the proposal on Thursday.
The measure also provides $1 million for possible impeachment proceedings against Public Regulation Commissioner Jerome Block Jr., who is under investigation for alleged abuse of a state-issued gasoline card.
A House panel has been formed to decide whether there's enough evidence to justify impeachment. If the House ends up considering Block's impeachment, that likely would take place in a separate legislative session held later.
