Governor Appoints Two District Court Judges
Republican Gov. Susana Martinez has reappointed a former prosecutor to a state district court judgeship in Albuquerque and named a Bernalillo County Metropolitan Court judge to another district court vacancy.
Martinez announced Thursday that she was appointing Brett Loveless and Judith Nakamura to the 2nd Judicial District Court.
Loveless was named to the court by the governor last February but he lost in the general election. He formerly was a deputy district attorney.
Nakamura has served on the Metro Court since 1998 and is its chief judge. She fills a vacancy caused by the death of District Judge Bob Schwartz.
Loveless will replace Monica Zamora, who was elected to the state Court of Appeals.
