Gary King Running for NM-02 House Seat
By Michael Olson
Las Cruces, NM – Democrat Gary King is throwing his hat in New Mexico's 2nd District Congressional Primary. King says that he waited to decide on running to find out if failed 2002 Democratic nominee John Arthur Smith was going to run again. Right after he learned that State Senator Smith was not running, he felt the need to hold back yet again as former Congressman Joe Skeen passed away.
King will face off with Jeff Steinborn. Steinborn's earlier announcement gives him an organizational leg up on King. Steinborn has an office in Las Cruces and has held a handful of fundraisers. Steinborn finance director Strat Cavros, says their campaign is just shy of raising $100,000. King says he has Steinborn beat on experience.
