Fugitive Wanted For Kidnapping

Las Cruces – The Dona Ana County Sheriff's Department is asking for the public's assistance in locating a suspect wanted for 1st Degree Kidnapping and other related charges.

According to Sheriff's Investigators, on Thursday, January 28, JOSE FRANK MADRID, age 28, of the 3115 block of El Camino Real, allegedly held his girlfriend, age 29, for approximately two hours, against her will, at their residence, refusing her medical treatment after she sustained a laceration to her left wrist.

MADRID allegedly held and pressed a knife against the Victim's neck during the altercation.

The VICTIM was finally able to get away, only after MADRID was distracted by the VICTIM'S twelve and seven year old sons, when they arrived home from school.

Present at the time while the VICTIM was being held against her will, were her daughters, ages four and one.

None of the children were injured as a result of the incident.

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of MADRID by Magistrate Judge Conrad Perea charging MADRID with one first degree felony count of KIDNAPPING, one third degree felony count of AGGRAVATED BATTERY AGAINST A HOUSEHOLD MEMBER (DEADLY WEAPON), one third degree felony count of BRIBERY OF A WITNESS, one misdemeanor count of BATTERY AGAINST A HOUSEHOLD MEMBER and two misdemeanor counts of INTERFERENCE WITH COMMUNICATIONS.

Bond was set at $50,000.00 cash, by Magistrate Judge Conrad Perea.

MADRID was recently released from prison and out on Parole for a conviction stemming from Possession of a Deadly Weapon/Explosive by a Prisoner, on September 15, 2007, Aggravated DWI and other related traffic offenses.

A warrant has been issued for MADRID'S arrest by the Probation and Parole Division of Las Cruces, revoking MADRID'S parole. There is NO BOND.

MADRID is described as being 5 foot 7 inches, weighing 190 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. (SEE ATTACHED PHOTO). MADRID has a tattoo with the word "MADRID" on his right forearm, as well as a tattoo on his back.

It is believed that MADRID may be still in the Las Cruces, Dona Ana area.
