Former New Mexico Jail Captain Indicted In Sex Case

Authorities say a former captain at a New Mexico jail has been indicted for alleged sexual assaults of female inmates.

Federal prosecutors say 70-year-old John Greene is accused of violating the civil rights of three different victims by engaging in unwanted sexual contact with the women while they were incarcerated at the Gallup-McKinley Adult Detention Center.

The indictment also accuses Greene of making material false statements to the FBI about having any personal contact with female inmates in his custody.

It was unclear Wednesday if Greene has a lawyer yet.

Prosecutors say Greene faces a maximum sentence of 13 years in prison if he's convicted of all charges in the indictment.
