Dedicated Bus Route gets Seniors to Lunch in Las Cruces

Senior residents who eat lunch at Munson Senior Center, 975 S. Mesquite St., or Eastside Senior Center, 310 N. Tornillo St., now have a dedicated bus route that has been established through an innovative collaboration between the City of Las Cruces Senior Programs and RoadRUNNER Transit.  Here is the information provided by the city of Las Cruces:

The new route, called the Munson/East Side Senior Lunch Ride – or MESLR for short, began Monday, Feb. 5 as a pilot program that will be in effect for the next six months.

Using the City's 26-seat Senior Programs bus and a dedicated driver from RoadRUNNER Transit, the new route offers an alternative for senior residents who currently schedule Dial-A-Ride service to get to and from lunch at either Munson or East Side senior centers. The lunch ride combines the best of Dial-A-Ride and fixed route service by providing origin-to-destination service that will operate from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The new bus service will coincide with lunch service offered at the two senior centers.

For information, call Senior Programs, 575/528-3000, or RoadRUNNER Transit, 575/541-2500.
