Las Cruces – State police have identified a body found in a burned out vehicle in Dona Ana County as that of a Texas man.
State police Lt. Eric Garcia says the death of 20-year-old Adam Espinoza of San Antonio is being investigated as a homicide.
Garcia says hikers stumbled upon the charred vehicle and remains late Sunday afternoon east of Anthony. They reported the discovery to the sheriff's department.
It's unclear how long the body had been in the area, but Garcia says it was likely days or weeks.
Investigators say the vehicle was a 2000 Mitsubishi sedan with Texas license plate MVY-641.
Garcia is asking anyone with information about the case to contact the state police office in Las Cruces.
