Boy Arrested For Burping In Class

By KRWG News

Albuquerque – Burping in class was enough to get one Albuquerque boy handcuffed by a police officer, arrested and hauled off to a Juvenile Detention Center according to a civil rights lawsuit. The school principal, a teacher and a police officer are named in the suit.

The Albuquerque Journal (http://bit.ly/rV0JNV ) reports the incident happened last May at Cleveland Middle School after the boy "burped audibly" in his P.E. class.

The lawsuit alleges the boy was transported to the juvenile center without his parents being notified. It also details a separate incident on Nov. 8 when the same student was forced to strip down to his underwear while five adults watched as he was accused of selling pot to another student.

The boy was never charged.

A spokeswoman for Albuquerque Public Schools says she had not seen the lawsuit and could not comment.
