Las Cruces – An internationally-acclaimed basketball team will be playing in Las Cruces on Sunday, but their mission goes far beyond sports.
The Harlem Ambassadors will be playing a game at Las Cruces High School on Sunday afternoon at 4.
The Ambassadors feature what you might call performance basketball: slam dunks, tricks, and comedy routines.
They say they set themselves apart from other "Harlem-style" basketball teams by working with local not-for-profit and service organizations to hold community fundraising events. Sunday's game will raise money for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwestern New Mexico.
The Ambassadors perform more than 200 shows a year and have helped raise millions of dollars.
For part of the entertainment, Las Cruces business and community leaders have formed a team to try their own tricks against the Ambassadors.
Once again the game, which benefits Big Brothers Big Sisters, starts Sunday afternoon at 4 at Las Cruces High School.
