Argument Escalates Between Workers, One Arrested

Dona Ana County Sheriff

Two men working at a construction site Saturday engaged in a heated argument that turned brutal, after one allegedly picked up a metal pipe and beat the other repeatedly.

George Malone, 55, was working at the job site in the 7600 block of Stern Saturday morning when he got into a fight with his supervisor. The two had allegedly been arguing for days, according to witnesses.

During the argument, Malone reportedly picked up a three-foot galvanized steel pipe that was approximately one inch in diameter and allegedly began to strike the other man. Witnesses told Doña Ana County Sheriff’s investigators that Malone hit the other man three or four times.

The victim sustained injuries to his left wrist and contusions to his torso. He was taken to an area hospital where he was treated.

Sheriff’s investigators arrested Malone, charging him with one count of aggravated battery causing great bodily harm. He was transported to the Doña Ana County Detention Center where he was booked on a $10,000 secured bond.
