Alamogordo IMAX Theater Reopens

(Alamogordo, New Mexico) -  The Clyde W. Tombaugh IMAX Dome Theater has resumed its regular schedule as of Monday afternoon, June 10. The theater had been closed due to a mechanical failure early last week.

“We thank Victor Benson, the IMAX regional manager, and John Miller, the regional IMAX technician, for their outstanding efforts to get us running again,” said Chris Orwoll, executive director of the New Mexico Museum of Space History. “They spent a lot of hours in the pit under the projector replacing a broken bearing and then realigning and testing all the equipment.”

The Tombaugh IMAX Theater now resumes its regular schedule.  Featured large format films are Tornado Alley and HUBBLE. Tornado Alley shows at 11, 2 and 4, and HUBBLE shows at 10, 12, and 3. Planetarium shows are offered at 1 p.m. The theater operates seven days per week.

The New Mexico Museum of Space History is a division of the NM Department of Cultural Affairs. For more information, call 575-437-2840 or toll free 1-877-333-6589 or visit our website at www.nmspacemuseum.org.
