Dona Ana County Commission Takes Step toward Tax Referendum

Las Cruces, NM – Wednesday, Dona Ana County Commissioners approved a resolution announcing their plan to ask voters to consider passing a mil levy on property owners which would fund the construction of a judicial complex. Dona Ana County to Consider Tax Development District

Las Cruces, NM – This morning, the Dona Ana County Legal Department held a public hearing in Las Cruces to discuss the creation of a Tax Development District with Sierra County. New Mexico Could Face Financial Crisis

Las Cruces, NM – This week, New Mexico Voices for Children, a non-partisan advocacy group, announced an analysis of the State Legislative Finance Committee's 2008 Post Session Review. Senate Approves Bill in Attempt to Lower Gasoline Prices

Las Cruces, NM – This week the United States Senate approved a bill which seeks to suspend the continued storage of seventy thousand barrels of oil per day at the country's Strategic Petroleum Reserve. A New Mexico economist says the move will affect the rising price of gasoline but only by a few cents.

University Students Head Home

Las Cruces, NM – Thursday officially marked the end of final exam week and Spring Semester 2008 at New Mexico State University. While some students will only rest for a couple of weeks before hitting the books again, thousands are preparing to leave the area on a three month vacation. As KRWG's Marco Grajeda reports, the students' summer departure also means a loss of revenue for some area businesses.
